Welcome to the Wonderful World of Dollmaking!
It doesn't matter whether you are a Beginner or an Advanced Dollmaker, you can make dolls easily from my patterns as long as you have good hand and machine sewing skills.
-
The shape is built into the pattern.
-
The techniques are built into the instructions.
-
To succeed, you only need to follow the instructions.
-
To make beautiful dolls, you need to practice what you have learned. You can use the techniques you have learned on any cloth doll, even your own designs.
You can work either with written or video instructions. If you learn more easily by reading, try the FREE Patterns and Projects in Free Stuff.
If you learn more easily by watching, or if you don't have good sewing skills yet, start with the videos first to learn the tricks that make it easy.
-
Start with the FREE videos in Free Stuff.
-
Then look at the FREE Techniques in Free Stuff.
-
You may also want to look at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section for dollmaking tips, and at the Nerdsville section for Internet and Web tips. You'll find both of those in About / Policy.
-
Then try some of the FREE patterns and projects in Free Stuff.
-
When you are ready, go on to the Dollmaking Workshops, Classroom on a DVD series in Workshops. The DVDs will cost you about 1/6th as much as attending one of my classes at a convention (that's an 83% discount not counting hotel and travel) and you can play then over and over again.
-
When you've learned all of the basics, go on to the "Mimi's Quarter Scale Characters in Muslin" in Dollmaking / Patterns.
And be sure to join The Screaming Mimis for help and encourgement from other dollmakers who are working on the same patterns.
Happy Dolling,
Love,
Mimi
